Game On: Objectives, Tokens, and Tactics

We’ve crossed £70,000, unlocking a feature some of you may remember from our first campaign:

This stretch goal is all about adapting a selection of terrain tiles with indentations for removable tokens. These let you add objectives, hidden items, or dynamic points of interest, bringing an extra layer of interactivity to your maps.

If you backed our original campaign, you might recognise this system from Game Set 01, which began as a stretch goal and later became its own add-on.

The newly gamified tiles will come with their own vehicle tokens, unlocked earlier in this campaign, perfect for adding movement-based objectives and convoy scenarios. You’ll have everything you need to start experimenting with more interactive map setups right away.

That said, if you're looking to expand your options, these tiles will also work brilliantly with the Coin & Token Set from Campaign 1, which includes a variety of icons for objectives, loot, intrigue, and more.

I wanted to give a better idea of how gamification tiles might work in practice - so here’s an example map I built using Campaign 1’s fantasy tiles in our web app.

This map combines gamified tiles with unique locations to create a more dynamic, strategic landscape - the kind of setup that thrives in a wargaming campaign. These are represented by the red hexagons.

In this example, unique location tiles act as narrative anchors: a water shrine, for instance, might be used to purify a blighted region, or become a target for corruption, depending on your campaign’s story arc. These tiles give players a clear goal with thematic weight, shaping the overarching conflict and giving battles real consequence.

Gamified tiles, on the other hand, offer mechanical rewards: a bonus resource, a temporary buff, or even the ability to establish a forward operating base. Some markers could be revealed from the start, like a treasure chest token showing a clear benefit, while others might use the “?” token to keep their effects secret until claimed.

This blend of open and hidden information creates interesting tactical decisions. Players may divert forces to secure a mystery tile, defend high-value terrain, or deny an opponent a critical advantage. It adds layers of resource denial, fog-of-war tension, and opportunistic decision-making to every turn of the campaign.

Right now, the web app supports fantasy tiles - but we’ll be integrating 2D versions of the Imperia Hexica (sci-fi) tiles after fulfilment. That means you’ll soon be able to build and play with both settings, expanding the scope of your wargaming campaigns across multiple genres.

And for even more creative applications? If you're a fan of games like Catan, these tiles bring fantastic variety to custom boards, especially when combined with both Game Set 01 and Game Set 02.

Game Set 02 includes special boarders that open up opportunties to use Hexton Hills with your favorite board games.

Gamification tiles and tokens are also incredibly useful for designing your own hex-based board games and hexcrawls. Whether you’re building a narrative adventure, a resource-driven campaign, or experimenting with branching path mechanics, these tiles give you the flexibility to explore your own ideas. It’s a natural extension of what Hexton Hills was always meant to be - not just a set of terrain, but a creative toolkit for worldbuilders, storytellers, and designers alike.

The noble prince returns to a kingdom cloaked in ash, its laughter stolen by a cruel sorcerer’s hand. Through blackened fields and hollow halls he wanders, where whispers linger in the ruins. Ahead lie many paths, some winding, some wild, each promising secrets, peril, and the faintest hope of something worth saving.

Needless to say, we’re thrilled to be expanding the gameplay toolkit with both vehicle tokens and new terrain gamification tiles as part of Imperia Hexica’s unlocked stretch goals.

With the campaign rules development stretch goal also unlocked, there’s huge potential synergy here. From modular objectives to movement-based missions and strategic territory control, these tiles and tokens will offer exactly the kind of gameplay hooks a living campaign system can build around. Whether you're exploring solo, wargaming with friends, or building your own system from scratch, these tools give you more ways to shape the game your way.

If you've pledged Dominion and want to expand even further, our original Game Sets 01 & 02 and the Coin & Token Set from Campaign 1 are the perfect companions for this stretchgoal - offering a wide range of adaptable tokens and terrain for your custom scenarios.

All three are included in the Omniversal Pledge, Extras Collection, Tacticians Bundle and Empire Bundle, or available separately on MyMiniFactory.

We’ve just passed the halfway mark of the campaign - 14 days to go, with more to come!

The battlements may not hold forever and at £75K, we see the potential aftermath.
At £80K, the ruins stretch high above the wastes, a once-thriving sprawl now silent and shattered.

Thanks again for all your support, whether you’re backing, sharing, or just cheering us on from the sidelines. It means the world.

More soon,

Keep it hexy,

Dan & Jax
