The Battlements Stand!

These battlements were raised to withstand siege and slaughter alike. Reinforced stone and turreted walls stand ready to hold the line, their surfaces scarred by countless wars, and in places, by battles that drove them beyond their limits.

The Battlement stretch goals (£65K and £75K) are complete and the Imperia Battlements set is now available now in our store and to all Dominion backers and above. The set consists of 8 unique wall sections and 8 ruined variants.

Our tile guides have been updated with these new additions, and they're now live in the map maker.

Play On Tabletop

We love seeing our tiles out in the wild and we're excited to share that starting early next year, Play On Tabletop will be using our tiles for their latest campaign.

The map already looks great from the little that they've shared and we can't wait to see more. Check out their Instagram for the video!

Playtesting

Over the past few weeks we have been spending a lot of time playtesting the wargame rules stretch goal and feeding back into development with Mike Hutchinson, and it has quickly become one of the most exciting parts of the project for us. What began as a set of supporting rules has very naturally evolved into its own game, and each session has helped sharpen what it actually wants to be.

At its heart, it is shaping up as a game of manoeuvre and positioning, with multiple armies competing to control key locations across a hex based map. The tiles themselves matter, each bringing their own strategic considerations, and conflicts can be resolved in different ways depending on how groups prefer to play. Battles may be handled quickly with dice, or unfold as full tabletop engagements using the wargame system of your choice.

One of the most exciting possibilities is how adaptable the map itself could become. We are already imagining scenarios built around escalating narratives, balance focused challenges, or very specific player objectives, and exploring ways these could eventually be shared and highlighted within the wider community. It is still early days and we are testing every week, but the direction this is heading in has us genuinely excited.

Delay

We also want to acknowledge the gap between the bonus tiles and the Battlements. Since the bonus tiles were a small extra outside the main Imperia Hexica release, it's been a little while since we've been able to share a new stretch goal properly. We had originally hoped to have the Battlements ready a little over two weeks ago, but some pressing work outside our control had to take priority and caused a knock on effect to the schedule.

Because of that, while our aim was to have all tile work wrapped up by the end of the year, it now looks likely that some of the ruined city tiles will carry over into January. We are sorry for the delay and really appreciate everyone’s patience. We want to make sure this final stretch of work is finished properly, rather than rushed, and we are still making steady progress through it.

What's next?

The end is in sight, and we have been deep into the final stretch goals, all of which focus on the city tiles. To keep ourselves sane, we have been switching between tasks rather than working exclusively on ruined versions of some very complex city tiles. The first additional Spire (space port) is now almost complete, with solid progress already made on the second.

We will leave you with a small sneak peek below. As always, thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm. It genuinely means a lot to us, and we are excited to show you more very soon.  As always,

Keep it hexy,

Dan & Jax
